About Afsana Khan

Where I began

I grew up in Durban, on a prison base where my father served as a warder at Westville Prison. It was an unconventional childhood, and the pressures of the world, along with attending a competitive school, led me to talk therapy early on.

That was my first lesson: that asking for help is not weakness. It is wisdom.

What I built

I came to Cape Town to study Film and Media Production at UCT, fell in love with the city, and eventually returned to those same lecture halls — this time as the one at the front of the room. Teaching has always been part of my essence. Long before I became a healer, I understood that the most meaningful thing you can do for another person is walk alongside them as they find their own way.

I built a career in advertising as a Creative Director. On the day of the 2010 World Cup final, I resigned — not impulsively, but intentionally — to start my own business, Endor By Design. I travelled to the USA to study Entrepreneurship at Sierra Nevada College, where I was invited to lecture students, and went on to complete a Post-Graduate Diploma in Future Studies at Stellenbosch Business School. Sixteen years later, my company is still thriving, helping local and international businesses grow through strategy, web design, and social media training.

What changed me

But building a business takes its toll. I started exploring alternative therapy to support myself — first a kinesiologist, then an experienced Reiki Master and Financial Coach. Within a year of working with them, my income doubled. I didn’t just feel better. I flowed better.

How I live now

Today I live on a farm outside Stanford, where I manage livestock health, water systems, and technology — all self-taught, all in pursuit of a slower, more sustainable life. I teach mindful watercolour classes for beginners. I study meditation and energy healing. Last year I enrolled with the Institute of Intuition and Healing to study Animal Communication, initially to support my own farm animals and pets. Now I want to offer those same benefits to you.

Why I heal

That instinct to teach, to share what I have lived and learned, is the same instinct that brought me to healing work. When you come to me for a session, I am not standing above you with answers. I am walking beside you, the way the best teachers always do.

Shifa means healing. It is not just a name. It is the thread that runs through everything I have ever done.
